[02:03] [ajdonnison] Morning
[03:07] [mosen] hiya aj
[03:37] [ecognito] Nothing can lift your desk from sitting to standing position quite like a 3 ton hydraulic jack.
[03:38] [ajdonnison] hehe
[04:21] [ecognito] For all the people going gaga over javascript, there's still no getting around the fact that it is a crappy little language designed in ten days and not changed substantially since then (just stabilised).
[04:21] [ecognito] since 1996.
[04:23] [ajdonnison] Yep. A pig with lipstick.
[04:24] [ajdonnison] ecognito, you going to arrive Friday or Saturday? Or haven't decided yet?
[04:25] [ajdonnison] But if you can get here on Friday some time around 6pm we can head out to the Moonambel and see some local colour.

[04:30] [ecognito] And while coffeescript does a lot as far as fixing syntax and avoiding common coding mispractices, it's still a pig, albeit with a full facial.
[04:30] [ecognito] I'll come up Saturday. Planning to leave home around 9am.
[04:31] [ajdonnison] OK.
[04:31] [ecognito] My GPS says it's a 3 hour drive, and Karen's mention of slowing down at night because of the kangaroos which would make it longer convinced me. :-)
[04:31] [ajdonnison] Yeah, they can make it a bit hairy on dusk and later.
[04:33] [ecognito] Starting to put together my list of what to bring for LCA. So far I've got: esky, laptop, coffee.
[04:34] [ajdonnison] From where you are eastlink -> monash -> western ring road -> western freeway should give you a reasonable run.
[04:34] [ajdonnison] esky? you planning on camping out?
[04:34] [ecognito] Do you normally go through (or close to) Ballarat to/from Melb?
[04:36] [ajdonnison] Close, you stay on the western freeway which now bypasses Ballarat.
[04:37] [mosen] Ballarat holds the beer awards :)
[04:37] [ajdonnison] It also has one of the most respected brewing courses in Australia.
[04:38] [ecognito] No, but I figure everybody may be using the fridge and space might be at a premium, so since I'm driving I can haul an esky with me and leave it for others who are travelling by means with less cargo capacity.
[04:38] [ajdonnison] Right.
[04:38] [mosen] ajdonnison, thatd be one interesting course
[04:38] [ecognito] One of those "just in case" things I guess.
[04:39] [ajdonnison] Just so you know, the fuel/coffee stops are Caroline Springs, Ballan, and then just before the Ballarat turnoff.
[04:39] [ecognito] Ta.
[04:41] [ecognito] The route you've given seems about the same as the way my GPS wants to take me.
[04:41] [ecognito] I've always been pretty lousy with directions, so I love the GPS.
[04:41] [ecognito] It's very handy when Michelle isn't in the car.
[04:41] [ajdonnison] :)
[04:42] [ajdonnison] I wish I hadn't signed up with my short email alias, google keeps changing the sender to the full address which gets blocked on the mailing list.
[04:42] [ecognito] Are you still wanting a lift to Ballarat on Sunday?
[04:42] [ajdonnison] I was thinking of taking a car just in case anything crops up at home and I have to rush back.
[04:42] [ecognito] Yep, fair enough.
[04:43] [ecognito] Your welcome to a lift if you change your mind, though.
[04:43] [ajdonnison] Thanks, I may still take you up on it. The weather doesn't look too bad at the moment.
[04:43] [ecognito] np
[05:35] [ecognito] Q4TD: If Tetris has taught me anything, its that errors pile up and accomplishments disappear. Mana (@damana)
[05:39] [mosen] aww
[06:17] [ecognito] Mind you, I've written a coffeescript compiler in Java.
[06:18] [ecognito] The first version was using rhino as the compiler engine, but it is really slow at running the coffeescript compiler code.
[06:19] [ecognito] I made another version using a library I found (jav8) which is suppose to provide a java.script interface to the V8 libraries, but it isn't really stable enough.
[06:19] [ajdonnison] Get bored, did we?
[06:19] [ecognito] The third version will call the Node.js version to compile, and fall back to rhino if not found.
[06:20] [ecognito] A little, plus this was prior to Node.js working on windows and I needed a CS compiler that would.
[06:20] [ecognito] It also has a GUI mode that will show you the compiled javascript, and updates automatically whenever it detects the source file(s) have changed.
[06:21] [ecognito] And of course, I have called it "CoffeeGrinder".
[06:21] [ajdonnison] :)
[06:35] [mosen] nice ecognito
